Fine art appraiser and Advisor, Melissa Soltesz has worked in the art industry for 30 years, working as a gallerist, art appraiser, and private art advisor for collectors and institutions, across the country. Her gallery experience has brought her across the country, from Zabriskie Gallery in New York City to UPFOR Gallery in Portland, OR. In 2015, Soltesz also had a year long pop-up gallery, Soltesz Fine Art where she curated multiple exhibitions as well as hosted events for Tesla, Dinner Lab, Southern Graphics Council International, and Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC).
Soltesz has advised multiple corporate clients as well, helping to curate timeless and thought provoking collections. Recent projects include the collection at the Hoxton Hotel, Portland, OR (dezeen article) and the Hyatt Centric, Portland, OR.
As an art appraiser, Soltesz has been valuing art collections since 2007. With an extensive art background, specializing in Modern and Contemporary art, she appraises a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography limited edition prints, and works on paper. Over the years she has appraised works by internationally acclaimed artists Ansel Adams, Banksy, Chuck Close, Jean Dubuffet, Zanele Muholi, Nam June Paik, Robert Rauschenberg, Cindy Sherman, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, as well as many others. With this diverse knowledge base, she can assist in a wide range of appraisal needs.
Soltesz is the current Board President at Oregon Center for Contemporary Art in Portland, OR and was recently Board Chair for the Contemporary Art Council at the Portland Art Museum. Additionally, Soltesz spent four years on the Park City Public Art Advisory Board, advising the municipality on public art purchases.
